  • Heritage Sucks. My bank got my money back but they still have my account suspended. I really don't care when I think back I got some cheap prices (at least they seemed cheap) but I always got low end crap.

agentjim, This is because as I understand it they basically buy all the low end dredge from other dealers who can't sell them and then wholesale it off to them, which in turn they list the coins at full retail prices on their website and list the least offensive pieces as "JH Exceptional"

    Regarding Heritage:
I have purchased a number of very fine coins from Heritage at auction. While I have not been a frequent retail buyer, my dealings have always been satisfactory.
This has no bearing on others problems just wanted to say it is not universal.

"JH Exceptional" from what I've seen looks pretty darn average to me. Of coarse, average is a big step up on some of their coins...

In God We Trust.... all others pay in Gold and Silver!
  • I've purchased two coins from Heritage recently (MS66 Wisconsin & MS65 1934 Boone) and both are extremely nice. I'm very satisfied and plan on doing business with them again.

My only problem is that when I entered the cert number from the Boone into my registry set it was rejected. It appears that someone else has the coin listed. image(

    You mean THIS one?

Yeah, that was me who bought it. I was too chicken to return stuff at the time so I just kept it. Now I know better. (I would have returned the other coin I bought too, which is even nastier, but wasn't a JH Exceptional.)

Dunno, I won two gold coins in last Signature sale, and have yet to receive them image My Check has been cashed long ago, and besides I really thought they'd ship me the coins before payment...oh well. Marc

I've bought some good-quality coins from their website in the past, but they have apparently made the decision to move more firmly into consignments and auctions. The quality of their inventory for sale has declined correspondingly over the past several months. It has been quite a while since I saw anything there I wanted to buy. Too bad, because it's very difficult to get a deal on their auctions unless you are physically present.
  • Dear agentjim007,

I just saw your posts regarding a bad experience you had at Heritage. I work at Heritage and would like to be your advocate in this matter. Please contact me personally with the details of what happened and I’ll try very hard and rectify things.

I have bought and sold coin through Heritage. I have never had a problem with them. They have always treated me with respect and as a valued customer. I bought my 1895 Proof Morgan from them and am very happy with it, I even got a disccount of the listed price!! Any time I have had any kind of issues, a phone call usually straigtens it out. I would much rather deal with a 5% sellers fee with Heritage then deal with all the hassles from E-Bay.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    Good one! image

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
