agentjim, This is because as I understand it they basically buy all the low end dredge from other dealers who can't sell them and then wholesale it off to them, which in turn they list the coins at full retail prices on their website and list the least offensive pieces as "JH Exceptional"
I have purchased a number of very fine coins from Heritage at auction. While I have not been a frequent retail buyer, my dealings have always been satisfactory.
This has no bearing on others problems just wanted to say it is not universal.

In God We Trust.... all others pay in Gold and Silver!
My only problem is that when I entered the cert number from the Boone into my registry set it was rejected. It appears that someone else has the coin listed. (
You mean THIS one?
Yeah, that was me who bought it. I was too chicken to return stuff at the time so I just kept it. Now I know better. (I would have returned the other coin I bought too, which is even nastier, but wasn't a JH Exceptional.)
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I just saw your posts regarding a bad experience you had at Heritage. I work at Heritage and would like to be your advocate in this matter. Please contact me personally with the details of what happened and I’ll try very hard and rectify things.

Good one!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
