I know most of us don't collect foreign coins but is there something I should look out for while I am there? I am going to try and find a few coin shops so I can look through their "world coin" junk box and find some US stuff in there for cheap!
I will be there for 3 weeks and will travel around the south island a little. When we arrive we are renting a Explorer and driving down to the south island where we will catch a 3 hour ferry ride. My wifes parents live on the south island.
Can you believe they do not have central air/heat in the houses down there? Heck they don't even have a dryer for clothes, they just hang them on a line in the yard. sounds like the middle ages to me!
It should be a adventure and fun.

anyone else have any pointers?
<< <i>lanlord, that statement is true (they sure love their sheep) >>
I hope you mean in a platonic way
Perhaps most of you already know this, but the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed in New Zealand. The panoramic scenes of the Shire (where the Hobbit's reside) are breathtakingly beautiful!
Obscurum per obscurius
<< <i>Throw an extra beer in the chilly bin for me! >>
I will look over the bonnet of my car while parking in the car park with the chilly bin in the boot.
sounds like you have been there.
That's because the sheep gene is dominant!
(I had a girlfriend from New Zealand at one time. She hated that joke. I wonder why? )
Seriously though, keep an eye out for those Bahamas/New Zealand mules. I understand there are coin shops down there where you can still pick them up pretty reasonably. And they are neat errors!
