The Anaconda got cherry picked - 1795 Flowing Hair Half in NGC AU58

It looks like I might have gotton cherry picked - I sold this coin to Glassman not long ago for way, way less than the 18.5 he's asking.

I didn't bother to look it up.....

Honestly, though, Adrian, I'm not so sure that you got cherrypicked by all that much. $11K is still quite a lot of money for a FH half in AU58 that is essentially just an product coin. (From the pictures, I don't see enough flash to make me want that coin as a ChAU specimen.)

What most people fail to understand is that the grading services are too generous in handing out high circ and low unc grades to early material. By any true measurement, a ChAU coin should have luster. I even look for that in my EF coins. I even prefer that on the FH coins, but that is far harder to obtain in EF grade.

If it were me, you'd never be able to pry $11K from me for that coin. It's simply not all there to warrant the grade.

After readng the auction, my question is "Does the NGC pop report really list them by Overton numbers and not just grade?" In other words does it really list two 1795 O-131's in AU-58 or does it just list two 1795's in AU-58?

Did you make a satisfactory profit?
If so,you did fine.
If I were a dealer, I would want to work in a marketplace where I make $ and those I sell to are happy and if they are also sellers make a profit. When that stops , you are out of business.
Incidentally, your explaining that you thought the coin was worth less when you sold it to Glassman, may not be helping his sale. However you are a successful marketer and undoubtedly know more about these things than I do.

Don't worry, the seller is just as happy to put it away for 10-20 years and then collect his reward at that time. Boy, I wish I had the insert to collect the $50 reward.

So, he's trying to sell it for $21k as a pop 1 but only wants to give $100 to anyone that can verify that it is indeed a pop 1. Tightwad.

Adrian - I was looking at your coins the other day and saw your explaination on how you price your coins, so maybe he uses the same formula?

BTW - I added one in your store to my watch list. Couldn't bring myself to click the BIN, but I haven't written it off yet either.
