Well, the fun continues for the boys with the under appreciated coins ... First, a warm welcome back to Carl on the "big" set, even at the expense of those of us below you! It is only right your set is back, for we knew it was there and some of us immodestly pretended we were a spot better than reality!
With yours truly having slipped by MJL for eighth on the 38-64 basic set, he has countered with upgrades on the 42 Ty. 1 to 67 and the 59 in 66 CAM to move within a perilous 4/10ths of one point of the stagnant Ludlow (come on, latest submission!) Nice coins, MJL!
And, on the early basic, Grant has upgraded to a 68 on the 1957 (19/0), which I know to be a tough coin because it took me months to secure my 68, to move into a tie for sixth with Geonumis!
And, a nod to LS Brown for adding DCAMs for 1962 (68) and 1963 and '64 (69s) to the big set. Again, nice coins.
On the late proofs, Bobby Jack -- known by another name on these boards -- has cracked the front page with what is going to be a superlative set.
What else? BNE is shopping, Frank is lurking, Carl never stops looking, GQ swears he is done, but keeps upgrading, etc., etc., etc.
You dare not stand still in Jeff land. Onward and upward, all!

Has anyone else noticed some high-grade coin pops jumping dramatically recently? How is it highest grade coins are "suddenly" being "found" and slabbed? On one hand average coins are getting ridiculously low grades and highest and higher grade coins are coming out of the woodwork. Another form of PCGS screwing!
I am happy with my latest upgrade. It is the blue '42 T1 I talked about on this thread. It is the same grade as my old one but has more eye appeal. It is true; I will keep looking for proof Jeffs. But my ranking won't likely go up as I don't have the budget for them that I had when I built the set.
The three '57s 68s that caused the pops to go from 16 to 19 last month were ones I made in a frantic search for the elusive (and so far non-existent) 69. I can't account for the truly huge recent leap you observed. That is mighty scary, and I have to admit to a growing concern that PCGS -- unable to follow the Golden Mean -- is now going to start slabbing huge numbers of high-grade coins. Of course, this will destroy the value of existing coins unless they will now go higher under the new regime. GULP. When we said "loosen up," we didn't mean THAT MUCH!

MY NEW PURCHASE...I HOPE I DIDN'T MAKE A MISTAKE!
BTW that looks like a nice '39-D. I don't follow circ strikes but will head over to check out some sets.
