New Title - 64 Toned Kennedys - Common?

Just had to share --

picked up a nice raw 1962 Frankie that will go PR67/68 DCAM for sure!

But the best, 4 raw rainbow toned 1964 Kennedy's probably MS63/64 but they were a whopping $7.50. They were the end coins from 2 rolls the dealer had just gotten in. They're great, when you turn the coin, the color almost explodes off the surface of it. Golds, reds, deep greens, blues all kinda swirled together. Maybe AT but @ $7.50 worth a shot.

Are these common coins with toning? With these colors? Your thoughts?

I wish I could post pics, but I'm lousy @ coin shots.

Frattlaw, you know how it goes..... if it's not an ebay scandal or something to that effect, some people are not interested.

Did you see the group of JFK's TBT has up on ebay?

I don't know how common but they fetch good money on eBay if not AT.

I've seen a few toned Kennedy halves and really have had no interest - so I'm not sure how common or rare they are.

GEM 1964 Kennedies with colorful, attractive toning are scarce to rare coins- regardless of the overall mintage.

I know in the AT video the guy showed some naturally toned rainbow JFKs. I don't think they are all that common, though. His, he said, were stored in a paper holder card from a bank for all those years. Like they have some SAEs in. I have only one nicely toned 64 JFK which has end-roll toning on the periphery and is MS66.

    Michael,

I recently watched several red/green end-roll 64's on ebay. They went to about $45 each as I recall. Unusual looking coins, that are not plentiful, but not scarce. Still, they're fun.

It's when you couple the rainbow color with GEM status these become scarce. They are either "gem" without the wonderful color, or nicely toned with marks.
