Is it possible? Could this be a Matte Proof Lincoln?

The Seller isn't sure and neither am I. It has some characteristics of a Matte Proof. Do you think it may be? I had a nominal bid in on it but quickly became outbid.

rims aren't squared just a well struck mint state.

the matte proofs should have squared off and flat rims, this does not appear to be the case on this coin from what i can see.

Good point guys- I missed that. The rims on this one are rounded. Still, admittingly it has some of the other signs of a MF. Oddly, kind of a cool cent.

Since you were kind enough to include my initials - I will concur with the others who noted the rounded rims, as a give away to the coin's business strike status.

i knew a dealer

who back in the late 80's early 90's used to get early original rolls of lincolns and pull out all the bu coins that had many charactistics and the "look" of matte proof lincolns and they were not matte coins!!
and send them into the two major grading services and about 35% of the time get it in a matte proof holder

It's not always easy to tell such things from a scan. I'm sure that if you were holding the coin right in front of you, you'd know right away that the coin is garbage.
