Thank You Charlie at PCGS

I had a questionable 1979 DDO Lincoln cent, and Charlie walked it back and got a preliminary read that it was machine doubling, thereby saving me the cost of submission. Thanks, Charlie.

    I was there today and personally witnessed PCGS Customer Service saving Rick not only the $30 grading fee, but also the weeks of anticipation thinking perhaps that he found a Doubled Die Lincoln only to get a coin back weeks later in a low grade MS holder worth virtually nothing.

    Sure they lost $30 today, but gained more respect from me and, no doubt from Rick. Great job Charlie!! image Wondercoin

    Has anyone else noticed that when "PCGS does wrong" threads can go for days and days and reach 100 posts. When "PCGS does right", a couple cursory comments are made and the thread dies a quick death. If I was working at PCGS in Customer Service I might feel like I was working at the IRS or as a meter maid image

    Wondercoin = *o/* bwahahahahaha
    Seriously, he's right, in a way. There's too much harping on the negatives and noone wants to hear the positives. Whenever anyone praises NGC though, god everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

    But you have to wonder, is all this harping on the negatives a sign of overall negative sentiment about PCGS? If so, what does this say for their future?

    I can tell you ahead of time for your next find...99.9999% of all "doubled die" finds on cents dated 1975-1981 are machine doubling. There is painfully little worth collecting in any of those years. 1979 has no known doubled dies.
