I just bought a PCGS 1957 PR68 Cameo Roosevelt dime...

...from Heritage. It will cost me a total of $54. Is it just me, or is that pretty cheap? Here are the population numbers according to PCGS:
PR68 - 77/5
PR68 cameo - 91/8
PR68 deep cameo - 39/1
Of course, there are probably a lot of unopened sets still out there... but still, PCGS doesn’t just give out the PR68 grade. Does anyone else see value in high grade 1940's and 1950's proof coins?

Best regards,
Brian.
The US Mint was rapidly ramping up production during the 50s. They made 22 thousand proof sets in 1942, 51 thousand in '50, 129K in '53, 670K in '56, and almost one and a quarter million in '57.
Still, all PR 68s are superb looking (or should be) and Cameo makes them so much more attractive to me! I think there should be way more than a few hundred people who want to buy a super, top notch, Roosey for more than that price. I just bought a '56 Washington in 68 Cam for $48...

No, I haven't seen it in person, only the scan. I would think that PCGS would be pretty particular when it comes to PR68's, though (I hope). What are some things to look for - spots, discoloration?

In modern proofs (or semi-modern, in this case) it really depends on when the coin was graded. If recently, it's likely to be excellent for the grade. If two to three years ago, it may not be all that.
I have recently graded PR68s that absolutely blow away some of my earlier graded PR69s.
