Adding New Sets to Registry

I just filled out the form to request that a set be added to the registry and I was wondering about how long it usually takes before the set will show up. I assume they (BJ?) will have to approve it first and verify the cert #s of the cards. Anyone know?

Thanks,

  • Could take a long, long time.

I submitted a Tony Gwynn player set a few months back and still haven't seen it. All depends on demand I suppose... but the fact that they have a Matt Williams player set and a Gary Carter player set but not a Gwynn set, is kinda strange...
  • Generally sets are added in the order they were requested, and the number of requests for the set. You can get you set added quicker by sending BJ the set composition in spreadsheet form. Player sets generally take much longer to get added because the are much more work for BJ. If you want a player set added, you should send BJ suggested compositions for both a Basic and Master sets. Basic sets just contain regular issue cards of the player, and Master sets contain all cards that PSA has graded of that player. Both sets only contain cards from that players playing years.
  • It's not a player set. It only has 60 cards, but I can say with great certainty that no one else has requested it to be added.

So should I send the set composition to BJ as mentioned? The cards aren't numbered, so I guess alphabetically? What about weighting?

    Thanks for your help,

    -Ryan

If you put the set in a spreadsheet, weight it and provide your three certification numbers, I imagine that the set can be added very shortly.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

It took 3 days for them to add the 1993 SP set I requested. That was an easy one, as it's just a straight 290 card set, unwieghted, with no questions on the checklist or anything like that. If it's one of your Cuban sets, then it may take a while longer and any help you provide them would probably speed it up a bit. If you feel the set should be weighted, then that would also help.

  • Ethan,

Yes, it's a Cuban set that I requested. You collect cuban cards? Here's a link to my website: cubanbaseballcards.com

That website in your post belongs to my good friend Cesar Lopez. It is hands down the best site on the internet for Cuban baseball.

Of course, for Cuban baseball cards from the 1920's, I have to immodestly tout my own site.

    hey Ryan

Cesar Lopez is a really cool guy. i havent met him in real life but we have exchanged a few emails. his website is just amazing!

i already have your website saved on my favorites. its quite helpful...thanks a lot for taking the time to do it and update it.

i have quite a few cuban born baseball players cards and also a few autographs.

i use Cesar's checklist of cards as my guide.

so far i have focused on PSA graded cards from the 50's and 60's since they are fairly easy to find on ebay.

i have a few raw cards some japanese and venezuelan as well as cuban.. and other oddball stuff. im not really sure if PSA grades those at all.

i plan to complete all the topps and bowman cubans from the 50's to the 60's at least psa 7. that should take me a while.
