You or a member of you family may have money due you held by the state escheat office in the state you live.
Utility deposits, insurance monies, the contents of safe deposit boxes (or the cash the state has got from selling same), even unredeemed gift certificates are types of money turned over to the state.
You can claim money even for a dead parent or grandparent if there
is money there in their name.
I live in Michigan. This is their website. You'll have to find the site for your own state.
