bondman22 toned Morgan UPDATE: PAYPAL , SQUAREDEAL AND NEG FEEDBACK

If you saw my thread on Thursday of last week you would have seen that I bought the Morgan below from bondman22. His attitude and hidden fees for using paypal really irritated me.

here is his original auction look at the pics of the coin in the auction and look at the scans I took without altering the colors

I have to admit that the coin is attractive and my scan does not do the colors justice however they are in no way as bright as his magic scanner produces.

I was going to neg him on feedback but might lower it to a neutral with a explaination that he highly alters colors in his scans.

what do you think? (I really want to hear what agentjim thinks)

updated:

I left a report with Sqaredeal, paypal and left a neg on his ebay account. I am curious to hear what he has to say and if he will be made to refund the extra I had to pay him for his paypal fees.

I am keeping the coin and do like it but probably would have bidded a little lower if he would have posted non AT scanner colored coin.

Like I said in last weeks thread...he specializes in "Scanner AT" coins. image
  • Neg. him if he had shown the real colors what would the auction have gone for... less. He charged un-ethical extra fee's.

  • I'd send the darn thing back and at least put a neutral if not a neg....you didn't get what you paid for, IMHO

    It's a little better than I thought.

I'd neg him: SCAM! SELLER MANIPULATES COLORS. CHARGES HIDDEN FEES. AVOID THIS SCUMBAG.
  • paigow johnny, the problem with that is he charges all fees to the buyer. I would be out roughly 20-25 bucks. I do like the coin but just want other people to know he enhances his scans and charges hidden fees for paypal usage.

do you mind if I use some of your words in his neg? image

To the untraind (white prefering coin people like me) the coin does not even look as though it is the same as the one in the ad. Good luck with your desicion.

If you really thought that Morgan was going to look like the scan you should stay away from toned coins until you learn how they really look and how they scan.
You like the coin and are going to keep it but you left the seller a negative?
You must be hard to deal with.
I see you and your buyers neg each other over $15 lots of "unsearched" wheat pennies.
Bondmans feedback say his buyers love him & his coins.

I remember part of the thread when this coin was bought. But I'm not sure about the hidden ebay fees. As far as the coin you say you like it, and not sending it back. You also say Your scan doesn't do the coin justice. So, many members here are still giving an opinion that the coin you scanned doesn't look like the auction pic.

If you haven't already, try tilting the coin and prop it up with something like a pencil or pennies. Because I get the feeling it might be close to the auction pic. Or, it's the type of coin you need to tilt just right to get the full color. But if your not used to toned coins (which I have no idea if you are or not), You need to learn all these things.
Too much is put on if a image is pretty or not. But if a person is experienced enough they can make a better judgement on images.

    Just my 4 cents.

  • I whole-heartedly agree with Dog97. You really like the coin and give a negative feedback?! Why not give a positive feedback with a warning the scans showed more color than the actual coin? Did you even attempt to "work" with the seller? Did you try to find common ground and work out an equitable arrangement? I think you will find it very difficult to meet your expectations when buying coins sight unseen on Ebay. You should find some coin shows and local dealers for future purchases. That way you can inspect the coins up close and personal, prior to purchase.

give me a break on this. I bought 150 pounds of wheats from a local coin shop that I am sure did not search these wheats ( I watched them buy them and throw them in a bucket) and I put a full set of wheats of my own into the bucket (including a 09 svdb, check my feedback for the person who found it) and sold them off. I sold them for awhile and decided it was not what I wanted to do and stopped selling them. we all make mistakes right? you ever made one?

<< <i>Bondmans feedback say his buyers love him & his coins. >>

he also has negatives in his feedback, did you mention that?

    stman

<< <i>I remember part of the thread when this coin was bought. But I'm not sure about the hidden ebay fees >>

look at the link at the top of this page and read the description about his RETURN policy. It does not state anything about a SELLING policy of the seller paying his paypal fees.

I talked to the seller on the phone and said that is was not right for me to have to pay his paypal fees but he did not offer to waive them he said I had to pay them.

I tried to alter the scan to show the real colors but I do not have photoshop at the house, it is at the office. the coin has some nice colors but just not as bright as his pictures.

The real problem with the whole transaction was the principle of charging me extra to cover his paypal fees. I never said I did not like the coin.

again if you are reading this whole thread please remember that people makes mistakes (wheat auction thing), give me a break on that.

ClarkOfKent, nice color edit. I say you have the makings of a eBay PowerScrewer.

Because no one reads positives. Would you search thru the postitves reading them? I wouldn't. However, I search out the negatives and read them.

I always try to show the coin in the holder as we all know the colors of PCGS being blue and different shades of brown on NGC and ANACS with there green lettering. ICG has always been green but if you sharpen it to much it does get grainy. That does help in seeing if the true colors
on the coin match the holder. Just the way I do it anyway.
Enjoy the pics below you will see the coin in the holder. I also think anyone who charges these fees for shipping and (restocking) that's a good one is a ripoff. I am not a fan of Bondman and his upgrade upgrade upgrade crap so I will keep my mouth shut.

JbSteven, I wasn't talking about photo shop to enhance the colors, I don't use any kind of software on my scanned images. It's tough to get the coin in it's best light from a scanner. Take something to prop or tilt the coin on the scaner bed. It takes a lot of practice but you can get a better image of the color that way. Just trying to help.

But yes it seems like you are more unhappy with the seller rather than the coin. But I don't think it's right to knock the coin if you like it.

I have watched your auctions and have considered bidding on them...........might pick one up soon they are nice.
  • stman:

I haven't knocked the coin just the seller.
  • You really want to hear what I think...(sniff sniff) I didn't think anybody cared ( hard nasal blow). Let me compose myself and I'll tell you what I think...Bondman22 is one lucky SOB. He should have 10 times the negs he has. I think your slightly better than expected opinion will fade rapidly. That coin looks like crap (atleast your pic, maybe it's better) and nothing like the original photo. Send it back eat a little now or more later. Don't neg if you keep it. Nail his ass to the wall if you don't.

    >>>>>we all make mistakes right? you ever made one?>>>>>>
No, but then again I live on Perfection Road, last house on the left.
    >>>>>he also has negatives in his feedback, did you mention that?>>>>>>>
I will now. He has 5 negs.
Bondman had it coming. He's also notorous for outragous restocking fees, bad scans, and undergraded coins.
I was just trippin because you & several of your buyers negged each other over $15 lots of unsearched wheat pennies.
I actually bid on a Bondman auction the other night (was outbid) but I knew about what the coin (NGC Morgan) would really look like and thanks to your last thread about him & his fees I was going to pay by CHECK.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • agentjim:
the coin does look ok for me to keep. I just have a real problem with the seller and his practices as I am sure you feel the same.
He is begging me by email to remove the neg but I will not.
If he gives me a neg so what big deal life goes on.
