This Half Dime is NICE! The Big Q is: Is it Original or AT? Hmmm

Still, it's not a bad price either way imo.

the colors are pretty...no question about it...however,

i get kind of suspicious about the toning (NT? or AT?)when i see it it so completely covering the surfaces of both sides of a coin...

the colors in the area around and on "HALF DIME", uniformly cover everything within the wreath...

Ms.Liberty is all blue-green from head to toe...

i would say AT based on what i see in color distribution...NT colors are usually not so "neatly" and completely distributed,in my opinion...

that's the kind of a-t that occurs after long-term storage in tissue paper. i'd buy that coin in a second, plastic co. would be stupid not to slab it.

    nice!

Loki, the obverse is not so bright in person and I actually like the reverse better. Oh yeah I am the seller! I kind of thought this coin would be posted here with those colors and I am sure some forumn members remember it from me asking opinions of the toning a few months ago. I have been trying to sell a few coins to fatten my Christmas shopping money that I usually do on Christmas eve. mike

IMO, the Obverse is AT. Look at the hard lines between the colors and how the colors lay in the devices. The rev is harder to guage, though. I would like to see how the luster shows through. On my purple morgan I posted on Saturday, there was much more subtle color that wasn't hard edged that laid well in devices. Also, this coin could also be retoned.

The question that might to be asked is whether the toning is covering up some flaw. If you find that some scratches or hairlines are hidden it is a good chance the toning was put there artificially. Lately, AT has been used so much to enhance the grade that sometimes we forget that the "original" idea of AT was to cover up flaws such as hairlines and bag marks.

I thought it was AT the last time you posted it and I still think it's AT. image
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
