Las Vegas Show at the Tropicana....

I just read a post on the Registry Forum, and thought I would post here also. I will be in Vegas this weekend and wondered if it was worth attending. I hope it is a decent show to keep me away from the slots.image

I am going to try and attend, if the show is not worth it, Lucille will find plenty of fun things to do in Sin City!

I am trying to remember the name of the obscure casino that pays it's slot machine winnings in Franklins.

I can think of it, I'll let you know, or you could just go to ever casino and try to find it. image

then you must remember when it was quite a different place. I remember the old gas station next to Ceasers, which along with the Castways and a motel or two took up all the space no occupied by the Mirage.

    << <i>Bring back the Silver Slipper >>

I loved the Silver Slipper! I was stationed at Norton AFB back in the late '70's. As a young lad with a motorcycle, virtually no responsibilities, and plenty of free time, I used to go to Vegas quite often with a few other "bikers". After my first few losing trips, I resorted to diligently learning a blackjack card counting method before I would attempt another excursion. When I was confident enough with the results I was obtaining by dealing countless hands to myself and "winning", I decided to try my luck again. The Silver Slipper was my casino of choice then, mainly because they dealt single-deck blackjack which makes it easier to count. I brought with me $200 on a Friday and I came back with $1800 on Saturday night! image

I showed my wad of "Frankies" to my doubting buddy who was working part-time at a Circle K convienience store. He said he hadn't made that much in the 6 months he was working there lol. "Beginner's luck", he believed, until I brought back another $600 after my second trip, again from the Silver Slipper. "Hey, can I borrow your book?", he then questioned? image

I wish I could have experimented more with my system, alas, orders to Turkey put a damper on that. I haven't been back to Vegas since, so I was sorry to hear of the demise of my beloved Silver Slipper.
  • In the mid to late eighties, I was visiting Vegas four times a year. We always stayed at the Desert Inn (the last great hotel) and rolled up the sidewalks from the Silver Slipper every night.

At that time, they had signed a fabulous group for late night - "Cook-E Jar & the Crumbs" and they rocked the house.

In fact, I (&CookEJar) were at the Slipper the last night when teh closed the doors for good.

  • I'll be there Friday afternoon.

    NBSQLgeek,

What high school did you go to? The district has changed a lot.

    Hey Frank,
Do you remember that classic white T-Bird that was displayed out in front? That was supposed to go to a lucky jackpot winner. It was there for the longest time! Was it still being displayed in the mid-eighties? image
