A coin for the die-hard Franklin Luvers

Here's something you don't see very often - with a price to go with it as well - if anyone has lots of money and wants to send me a really great Christmas present, you need not look any further! image

    Hey Frank,

Xmas present, huh? image That is one shabby reverse image OR an FBL that I could not abide by. I hope it's just a poor scan, for PCGS sake.

BTW, I'm still waiting for Mr. Hall to address my question, "Is PCGS standard for FBL lower than NGC, based on PCGS published requirement of "bottom 3 lines" and NGC supposedly evaluates all seven?" In the Q&A forum he indicated he would address it, I thought, last Tuesday. Either he is still researching it or "forgot" about it. Yes, I sent an email inquiry (to Carol since she moderates the forum), which has yet to be acknowledged.

I noticed that your question had not been answered yet - I think it was an outstanding question and I'll be looking forward to seeing what David has to say about this.

  • I'm with Gilbert on this one, looks like a weak reverse to me. Also appears to be a remnant of a fingerprint above the second set of bell lines to the right of the bell crack. Not quite what I think of when I picture a $8700 coin, but the obverse looks very nice at least.

Agreed - it's not the best picture in the world - but as we've said here many times, you can't judge by the pic - especially on a coin like this. I think what you see on the obverse might be a coin rub mark from this piece being in a roll. But again - can't tell unless you see it in person.

Hey Frank! Last year I sold two of these, one for $13k and one for $11k. Of course the pop. back then was only 4, which it had been for years, and now, somehow, it has ballooned up to 11. Must have been some sort of hoard or unbelievable roll that surfaced.

Sell all of your nice toned Morgans and go for it! Not.

Lucy, if you are outsniped, I have another one of these for you.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
