Outstanding E-bay seller

With all the bad that happens on E-bay, once in a while one seller comes along and shows that it can be a great place to get a deal. I'm not sure if this person is a board member or not but he tops in my book. I had won a MS 66 coin and received it and when I checked out the coin it was MS 67. There was a hand written note telling me that he could not find the MS 66 coin so he sent me this one instead. It was a nice surprise to get it. Auction

Good story, Dan, and good of you to give the guy credit.

There's a good deal of staying organized and keeping track of things that goes into being a good Ebay seller. Like everything else, some people possess those skills in more abundance than others. I expect some people's Negs and Neutrals are the result of sloppiness rather than malice. This guy evidently does know about taking responsibity for his screw-ups, and was wise as well as right to make it up to you.

Good coin, too, and of considerably greater value than what you spent for the 66!

I am a real believer in spreading teh word on Good E-Bay sellers, as I have run across so many bad ones lately.

I guess I'll never get the hang of Moderns however. Here is a $1.00 coin, which probably has a cost of about $2.00 in a mint set price allocation, in a $14.00 holder, that sold for $8.00 with one bidder.

The economics escape me.

Sarasotafrank These coins are always cheap to get on ebay because the 67's are easy to get ( for the most part ). I am collecting this set in MS 66 because I like that grade, I collect my Kennedys in that grade also. I sent him a e-mail and jokingly told him that now I have to go out find anouther in MS 66 to fill that hole.

Nice story and good for you and the seller.

All too often we focus on the negative situations on Ebay. I have sold over 500 items and bought 100's of items on Ebay and I found it to be a wonderful experience. Most Ebayers are genuinely nice and want to make Ebay work well. Obviously there are the few bad apples and a little due diligence on your part before making a purchase is necessary. Not assuming and prompt comminications are the keys to success. Don't get me wrong here- I'm not wearing my rosey glasses. I've had a few people not pay and I've had a seller flat our lie about shipping charges. But that's only about 5 out of a 1000. Hey, I own two businesses and I have had more customer issues per 1000 transactions in those businesses than I've had on Ebay.

I understand what you are saying, and was by no means questioning yoru purchase - in fact - I was praising it - round aboutly. FOr $8.00, you picked up a nice coin, in a reputable holder and have less than half the cost of doing it yourself in it.

I have been working on a half-a$$ed project collecting NGC Roosevelt Silver proof dimes - 1950-1964, PF67 or better. Thus far, I have accummulated five of the 14 dimes for less than $75.00 - considerably less than the costs of grading, let alone the underlying value of the coins. One was a PF-68 Cameo.

The stuff is out there.

What a shame someone would make an issue of 3 neutral and 2 negative feedbacks and then fail to mention that the seller has 1,972 Positive feedbacks. In the last 6 months the seller has received 1 neutral and 1 negative. In BOTH instances the buyer was offered a full refund and yet the buyers chose to submit bad feedback, rather than receive a refund. This poor seller was the victim of sorry buyers, not bad selling practices. Next time, do your homework Twowood before holding that kind of a seller up for ridicule.
