Anyone know of a DDR on a 71 D Ike?

I was looking through some original rolls picking out submission candidates, and came across several coins which have doubling on most of the lettering on the reverse. I too, like many, get confused as to what is hub doubling etc. Most of this date dont have a sufficient strike to even be able to get a clear image of the outside lettering, but these do. My attempt at a scan is below. On the scan it is most obvious on the "D" in Dollar, but is on all of the letters. Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Greg

What I see in your scan is a doubled line on the left of the D and unfortunately nothing else. I trust that the rest of the letters look about the same but didn't come out well in the scan...which, again unfortunately, scanners are rather well known for - not making very good images of coins.
With what I can see in mind, I would have to summize that you "probably" have machine doubling, but the visual information given "could" go either way.
With regard to whether there are doubled dies listed for the 1971D Eisenhower dollar, I'm sure there are. My experience with this series, although limited, is that there are a LOT of doubled dies in the series for most dates. That having been said, unfortunately MANY of these doubled dies are the result of doubled master dies and doubled working hubs, which means they are somwewhat common. Since the general attributes for each would be identical, someone who specializes in the series would be required to attribute what you have to any specific die, and tell you whether what you have is common or not.
BTW, I periodically look through Ikes at shows when I've pretty much exhausted all the Lincolns, Jeffersons, and Wash. quarters, and pretty much every time I look I find something. I was once the owner of an Ike that for the life of me I can't remember the exact date or mint, but it was a - quadrupled - die reverse...very nice looking class 2 (center), but I sold the coin on eBay shortly after acquiring it...bought it for less than $5, sold it for over $25.

An alternative could possibly be that I could take a look at the coin for you before it goes in to ANACS. If hub doubled, I could make the submission, if not, I could send it back home. Let me know if this is viable for you.

a DDR 71-D and it may be yours. There is a misprint on this entry I hadn't noticed before.
It states the doubling is on the US of A, the denomination, ends of the wing tips, most stars,
and parts of the globe. It lists a value of $30 to $60 from unc to gem. Good Luck.
