??? on population reports

Here is a question for all of you.

When I look at the population reports to determine how many better proof coins there are than mine, should I consider CAMS and DCAMs as being better???
There are some who subscribe to the theory I should.I don't.I consider them different. All comments greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!!!

IMO you should count anything of higher grade. i.e. PR68, IMO the PR69, PR70, PR68CAM, PR67DCAM and above are all higher, however, when you enter a coin into the Registry, only the same coin is counted as higher. Example a PR68 is entered, the computer only figures the PR69 and PR70 for that coin.

Let's see what the opinions of others will be?

I suppose it just depends on your perspective. For me, its how they come off the die. DCAM, CAM, Brilliant, less than brilliant, die wear beginning to show = die should have been removed from service.

    Edited to add:

However, I don't necessarily subscribe to theory that the next higher grade is always a better LOOKING coin. It should be when comparing DCAM to DCAM, CAM to CAM and Brilliant to Brilliant, but in most cases, I would prefer to have, for example, a 67DCAM than a 67CAM or a 68 Brilliant.

I wouldn't consider any as being better without seeing them! Speaking only in pops terms, all color/cameo designations get compared only to others of the same group, and even BNs can look rare if you go by their comparison stats.

But I know where you're coming from Don. The same way I wouldn't presume any cameo is nicer than your RD, I wouldn't presume any RD is nicer than a RB.
