Sent a group of 19 full step nickels to PCGS via the economy service and they received 10-30-02. I've been seeing submission results from modern service where the coins were received after the 10th of november. Just wondering if anyone else has coins that have been there over a month.
Anybody?
Thanks.

In God We Trust.... all others pay in Gold and Silver!
Regular: 1 - graded yesterday
Regular crossover: 1 - still not graded
Economy: 2 - not graded yet.
Modern: 2 (1 graded today, the other not graded yet)

That is one thing that yanks my chain, they shouldn't charge your card until thay are just about to grade them, or grading is just finished. It seems to my befuddled brain that PCGS didn't used to charge your card until after they had graded your coins. The last few submissions it seemed to change. I am not 100% sure that they changed when they bill you, but I am pretty sure it wasn't this far in advance of the coins getting done. Your coins are out of hand, you have payed the grading fee and now you get to wait a couple more weeks until you see what your grades are ( sorry to hear about Greg's disaster)...a whole different thread.... Talk about killing your cashflow..

One of the first and best tips I got from employees at PCGS when I started dropping off coins in person was about timing.
I was told that at the end of each fiscal quarter of the year (March, June, September, and December) there is a "hurry up" policy in the Grading Room to get as many coins done as possible... in all submission classes of service.
This is because PCGS is not allowed to "count" the income from submissions until the coins have been graded. Naturally, as each fiscal quarter draws to a close, interest in putting as much income on the books as possible increase.
Knowing this, I have regularly gotten submission results in two weeks or less on Economy service coins by submitting them around the 12th of each of these four months.

They do, but you have to be a member or dealer to use it. You can call them and ask them where your coins are in the grading stage.

It's stated right on the submission form that one's credit card is charged upon receipt.

...which makes sense. They don't want to go through the grading procedure only to find out the credit card is fubar.
I just don't remember it working that way in the past...although I DO admit to being befuddled

It is in REALLY tiny letters.

I checked one of the older pre-printed submission forms and it doesn't say anything about your CC being charged upon receipt. The online submission form DOES indeed make that comment. I guess it is one of those cases of "subject to change" being used

I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

Interesting. I only use the pre-printed and all of mine going back to April (when I did my first submission) say it right under the line where you fill in the credit card number.
