Auqa spots?

Never seen these on a coin before. What is it? Toning? Someone cleaned it too much? Result of polishing? Metal oxidation?

  • IT looks like your average blank screen to me. I would net grade it VF-30

    Based upon your name and no pic, I'll assume you're talking about a Peace dollar. Sometimes these spots develop because of the rinse @ the mint. Sometimes they're hazy, either way they do occur on Peace dollars and cannot be removed even with dipping. These spots are more prelevant in some years then others.

    That's my educated guess as to what you're referring to.
