Help! small date???????

I have looked in both red and blue books but I guess I am too uncertain to decide if this coin is small date or large date. I would truly be greatfull if I could get a little hand. Also would my red penny grade well?thx

  • I don't collect that series, but it looks MS 65+ to me. Nice coin! Hmmm, I thought the small dates were on the 1960?
  • In an earlier posting someone asked me if it was small date or large date. I have only been interested in coins for about 6 weeks now. I am already hooked!!!!! I have my hubby pick up $250 per day in rolled circulated coins. Mostly cherry picking but having a blast. Thanks. Still wish I could tell between the two strikes.

That's a large date. See this link for some comparison photos:

The right hand pics are small date. Note in the top photo that the top of the 7 on the small date is even with the top of the 0 and the tail of the 7 doesn't stick down below the 0 as far as it does on the large date. Also note, the weakness in Liberty on the small date. On a large date it is much sharper.

    Hope this helps,

  • Man that is close but looked large date to me aswell.

I have been collecting for 4 weeks and yes its great and very cheap way of collecting. I have 5 more spots to finish my 1959 - 1998 lincoln memorial cents album. I have my Dansco 1909 - Date album in transit to me. Woohoo.
