I wonder why those two ANACS coins didn't cross?

  • I see that the ICG grades were not too far from the PCGS grades. I think they have a chance of becoming a reputable service.

The trade dollar is hairlined in the left field, looks like someone wiped it with a rag. I guess pcgs considered too harsh. I am going to send it to anacs for grade review when it gets back.
No idea why the morgan didn't cross it isn't a toned coin so not for AT.

Was the ICG MS68 marked SMS? Wouldn't a business strike 68 be worth a real fortune?

Yes it was marked sms. I bought it on eBay I bid like it was a 65 paid like $30 for it.

I had the 1935-s for a long time. I bought it on eBay when icg just started.

    I'd say it's a solid 64... if not a 65... it is gorgeous!

PVC around the date area? I don't know- that is only a stretch guess.

I will look it over close when it gets back.
Does pcgs give a reason on crossovers?

I dont think they give one... either it crossed or it didn't

Placid- I agree with the others that it looks 64 easy and a good shot at 65! I have been looking at the pictures for a while trying to figure it out and the only thing I can come up with is that on the reverse above the eagle and in the area of the motto there appears to be a change of luster with some horizontal striations going through the motto- maybe something there? Also on the cheek could this have been thumbed because it looks much lighter in color there? Anyways I am just grasping at straws to help with an answer and no matter what PCGS says it's a very nice coin. I made some smaller pictures of your coins because sometimes the big pictures make it too hard to look at. mike image
