70's are back,good or bad?

I see several more gold PR70's just got graded. Another '87 $50. and an '88 $25. And a $100 platunum. Are we going to see more or is this just bad timing?

    Good for those of us who were waiting for some sanity to return. Bad for those who were buying them up at stupid prices.

    So if a Classic Coin collector complains that not enough MS65 or MS66 coins are available will the standards change for those coins also ?? Just wondering. Hmmm.

    Changing Standards equals Bad to answer your question.

    Good point Ken, but I would say this, if it deserves the grade give it. If if doesn't don't. Let the prices and chips fall where they may. At least we might be able to put the pf 70 arguement to rest.image

    The actual prior standard seemed to be that we don't make 70DCAMS, period. The written standard is perfect under 5X. If enforcing the written standard is the change then I say the change is correct.

    For sure if the coin deserves the grade give it the grade. Hopefully this is what is going to happen and not grades just given out to meet a quota that was stated a couple of weeks ago. Also hopefully the standards used at this time will stay the same as time goes on. We will see.

    I think when PR/MS70 PCGS Moderns are being sold on CVC you've got to start to worry.

    I hope we never lose trust in our slabbed coins. If people don't trust the grade given, adios third party grading. We have to believe that PCGs will stick to their very strict grading standards or all the coins in our holders now become questionable. Translation: lower value coin collections.

    It's good for me because I have purposely held back my modern commemoratives that I feel deserve the 70 grade till PCGS starts grading more 70's.
    Plus I have sold off all but one of my MS and Proof70's over the last year!
