bondman22 on ebay (the toned morgan image enhancer guy)

stay away from this freak. I bought a toned dollar from him last night and sent him a email asking for him to send it out asap because I am going on vacation next weekend. He stated in a very hurried up panic voice that I would have to pay his paypal fees and extra shipping for Priority mail. This guy has had people question his practices as he immediately told me he has talked to ebay about charging extra money on top of his sale price.

here is a link to his auction and tell me what you think.

this guy has some real problems.

read his description and see if you think he is talking about extra fees for a return or paypal usage

here is what I suggested for his return policy for the hidden paypal fees:

You might want to add this sentence to your auction after the return policy sentence.
Buyer will pay all extra fees if payment is made by something other than a check or money order.

he stated:

I WILL USE YOUR COMMENT IN MY RETURN POLICY ,BOB

what a loser.

  • If I were you I'd eat a neg. feedback and tell him to kiss my ass.
  • I don't mind negs on me and he will get a neg after it is all said and done, guaranteed
  • There have been many posts about him and his magic scanner and none of them were good. Also it seems about every coin he sells is an upgrade candidate, consensus seems to be avoid at all costs or it might cost you!!
  • $7.50 shipping for the first $100.00 might be your clue he is not the most honest guy around.

    jbsteven,

I would nicely tell him that he lists paypal as a payment option and that you have been informed that under Ebay rules, there is no extra charge for that.

Regarding the priority mail fees - under his stated shipping fees schedule, I believe you would be paying $8.50 normally. I'd be surprised if priority mail would cost more than that. Ask him to ship it by priority mail and to let you know if the fee is more than the $8.50 he's charging you. If it is, agree to pay for it, since that is your special reqest.

Maybe my suggestions wont end up making any difference but you should try it and give the seller the beneift of the doubt before you assume that things wont work out. At least that way you will know you tried to be fair/reasonable and if you do end up getting negative feedback, will have information with which to appeal it with Ebay.

    Good luck.
  • I sent him $10.00 extra on top of the sale price and he is happy. this guy is still a freak. i can tell he has had the same thing happen before as he started talking with a nervous tone almost immediately when we spoke on the phone.

if the coin looks different from the photo he will be getting a neg and complaints to squaredeal, paypal and ebay

His actions already merit complaints to paypal and ebay. He cannot charge you for the extra fees for the use of paypal!!!!!!!

Contact paypal that he is charging paypal fees to the end-user.

  • This guy might be unscrupulous, but the question comes to mind. Why did you buy the coin if you don't like the deal? Apparently the coin had enough attraction for you to buy it. and accept the deal.

Shoot, buy the coin, then flame him if you think your argument is credible and holds validity. I don't understand the buying and then flaming the guy on an open forum. Seems alot like buyers remorse or better yet, trying to drag others into a situation you created. Not so sure the bad vibes for this seller are warranted.

    My very Humble opinion.

  • You never delt with him Bulldog the flaming is warranted. I sent him a money order next day and it took him a month to send an undisclosed (cleaned) piece of crap (raw $10 Lib.). He under insured to save a buck and refund took almost another month. I forget the exact figure but he charged me approx. double his cost which easily covered even the refundable e-bay final value fee. Then he had the nerve to contact e-bay for a final value fee credit. Popped that neg. cherry big time.

When a seller tells you on the phone about a hidden fee after the sale would it be considered part of the original deal? the $10.00 is not in question here it is the "hidden" part I have a problem with. In his mailing instructions he stated most coins are sent priority mail and when I asked for priority mail he wanted extra on top of paying his paypal fees.

I have bought $15,000 worth of coins in the last 4-5 months, do you think it is the $10.00?

    just my humble opinion.

My question to you is as follows-

Since you already state in your title that you know this seller manipulates and enhances his images, why would you even buy from him? Sounds like you didn't use common sense.

I understand he enhances his photos to some extent. he does offer a return privledge also.

I like toned Morgans, that is why I bought his coin.

I edited the title of the thread after learning he truly enhances his photos

I think there's a passage in Galatians that says to cast out the bondman and his son.

  • I have got to the point that I wont bid if an ebay seller is a "power seller". IMO Power Sellers push the envelope on ebay's rules. Mark is right though, it shouldn't cost more than $8.50 to mail the coin priority mail. A lot of ebay sellers make money on the shipping. I have paid $3 or $4 shipping to get the item in a plain envelope with a 37 cent stamp on it!!!image

  • I paid him $10.00 extra for his paypal fees and priority mail shipping.

    Fair?

I just got one in for which I paid $6 shipping. Actual postage, $1.06. At least it was in a 40¢ padded envelope.

I tried buying from this guy awhile back. I bought three "beautifully toned" Morgans. When I got them, the color was almost not even there. I ended up sending them back. I specifically asked him if the color shown was true and he told me it was. This guy clearly engages in scanner AT coins. Cost me postage and insurance both ways for three auctions to learn my lesson.

    Cheers,

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY.ACCEPT OFFERS

Sounds like this guy wants people to make offers... so he can cancel the auction and void e-bay fees.

Charging a fee to process any form of payment is against the law in California (and in many other states) and it's also a NARUable offense on ebay.

Edited to note - I don't listen very well. I just bid on a few of his coinsimage
