Looks kind of like the face of that Collector, when down the road he tries to sell it as original.

Sometimes clad coins will develop a huge bulge in the middle as well. People find these in change and think they are rare errors.

  • Well this maybe a long story but it`s one account at least.

My brother owned a Video Game back in the mid 80`s. The game was Eliminator for those wonderig and no it really was called that. He had it at placed in a neighborhood grocery store from a fellow he trusted. Accepting quarters my brother kept 75% while the store keeper kept 25%. So having several dollars worth of change in it, one night the store caught fire and burned down to the ground. I was awake and witnessed the fire and the fellow that was the owner was arrested for arsen ( Some friend ).

So to answer your question is that after I got back home from school my brother and I went over where the store was. The game was completely lost. The change, for the most part was a black and "silver" blob. Some still had hints of a design on them. There were still a few loose quarters (about $7 dollars) and the design was mainly marred by heat blisters or bubbles that gave kind of a worty apperence. We didn`t keep them because my brother gave them away.

I saw a picture of the obverse of a burned Seated Dollar in a coin mag. The top 1/3 of the coin was completely missing, and the top part of what was left, was blackened. It was an 1850- scarce date- what a shame! It was in a "worst known set" of dollars that included dateless Morgan and Peace dollars.

i bought 4 proof lincolns (1930's) from a literal "fire-sale" once. cost me 20 bucks, yes twenty bucks. they were heat-toned. dipped 'em & they came out gorgeous - a little pink, but gorgeous. sold them for a KILLING.

    btw, copper CAN be dipped.

  • The reason i'm asking is there's an old house i'm gonna have to burn down to build our new one.
    Thread

I've found coins hiding in there, so i know there somewhere. I'm just afraid they are up under the house, where i can't get to. Since the fire dept. will be running aroound in there training, i can't rip up the floorbaords to search that way.

    Any ideas?
