How PCGS manages information

My question is regarding how much data is stored for slabbed coins. For example does PCGS keep track in a database of what holder a coin came to PCGS in, whether it be another grading services holder, a proof set holder, etc..

If a PCGS coin is returned for some reason, is this information kept on file somewhere. If a coin gets removed from a pcgs slab for regrading or cleaning, does pcgs give it a new number and track the history of the old number?

Thanks

The PCGS data base contains the information you see on the holder...plus the grader history and submitter name for virtually every coin we've graded since 1986. There are a few exceptions to the grader history, which isn't available for about 5% of the coins. When we reholder a coin, I believe we use the same cert number. We know which coins are crossovers, but not which grading service.
