Picked Up a Smokin' Set of Roosevelts Sunday

I did a show in NJ on Sunday and up to my table came a very well educated collector/dealer of monster and nicely toned coins. He typically walks around at shows but will also take a table on occasion and has some truly special pieces in his set. Anyway, on Sunday he came to the table that I share with my good friend and he proceeded to take out a cardboard Capital Plastics box and asked if we were interested in buying. Of course, the site of a collector/dealer with the "eye" holding out a Capital Plastics box is enough to make you dream of cool coins. He then opened the cardboard box and produced an old style holder for the complete set of silver Roosevelt dimes. At first glance I wasn't impressed with the coins as the obverses were mostly white or off-white, although some of them had very nice luster booming through. I then flipped the set over and WHOA the color flew off at me in every direction. From 1946 through 1954 all the coins were toned while from 1955 through 1964 all the coins were white. Some of the toned coins had monster reverse toning. I was able to buy the set and have imaged some of the very cool coins in it. Keep in mind that these are scans and that the luster is missing in scans and the colors are flat. The coins themselves are stunning.

They're beautiful. The image server is terrible tonight, took two or three tries to get them to display, but it was worth the wait. Personally, I enjoy the roosies in that display. I have a few pieces with similar toning, but seeing a complete set with that look is a real treat.
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor

I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.
Always looking for nice type coins

Regarding Roosevelts, and all the discussions about them, I still
say once a design change takes place, everybody will want a set,
key coins or no key coins and then they will be hot. I think
you picked up some nice coins to have down the road and I am not
even a Roosevelt collector. I have my early mint state Roosies tucked away though.
