New blue Jefferson

I finally bought an upgrade for my proof Jefferson set. It replaces one of the same grade, but which is not as colorful. It is nice to buy a keeper every once in a while. It has been a while for me too.

Really pretty!! Is there a tiny bit of sea green, too, or is it the image? Very, very nice coin for a tough issue to find attractive examples of.image

  • Super Coin Carl....gotta love that blue tone. I am going to guess that it is a Proof 67 and it's going in the Varieties Set? When is the Registry going to let you put in your "big" Proof Varieties. Have you guys or anyone else sent Jeffersons in to ANACS for Varieties designations? I have a 1959 D/D and a few more I am going to send. Does anyone have a nice '59 D/D or '56 D/D Scan.

    Congratulations again Carl.......

Very nice! I copied it to my desktop and brightened it a little. Adolf Weiss liked the blue proofs. Once had a blue toned 1940 proof that I sold for $40 awhile back but it had a carbon spot on the obverse.

I have an interesting small D/ large D on a 61-D. I'll have to dig it out and post a pic.

Nice coin with pretty colors!! Upgrades to the proofs have been very difficult. I'm still looking for DCAMs in the 1950s.

  • Thanks gang. It is brighter than the picture. There is no green I can make out, but do see it in the image. My '41 has green if I remember right (I'll dig that out tomorrow). Oh, well. Maybe one day I'll be able to image the toned coins better. You can see how much I had the coin tilted to catch the light. I tried a few times too.

I was thinking of re-entering my coins in the basic set. Right now I only have them listed in the varieties set. I did buy a 1951 FS-032.5 DDO. It is in a NGC PF 67 holder. Not long after I bought it a cameo came to auction, but I missed that upgrade!

I still have the reverse of proofs. I think those are pretty hard to find. I don't know when they will added to the with varieties set...
  • Leo.....again I love that blue. Have you guys noticed that many of the 1960 to 1964 Brilliant Proof Jeffersons seem to get that real nice "ice" blue or gold tone. Somewhat common coins I can't seem to take my eyes off. I received an ANACS 1963 PR67 DDR a few days ago that is Neon Blue.....I gotta get a scanner and camera soon! Also...where did you get that 1943/2 in MS66FS? Wow.

    And....I know this is not the B/S/T forum but I have two PCGS Jeffersons....A 1950 PR66 and a 1971 PR67DCAM....Both Gorgeous. I need a 1955 D/S

    Enjoy your coins......I do

Very Nice. I have a nice 42P Proof out for certification, now. I can't wait to get it back!

  • Frank: I no longer regret missing the deadline on that auction!! I was willing to go a lot more but that would just have made it more expensive for you!

Very pretty Jeff, Carl. Agreed the Type 2 proof can be difficult to find with an attractive look. I have the most lovely toned '54 in for grading right now I hope to share when it gets back and if I can get a decent image. (May ask one of photogs at work to to the honors ...) It has a crescent rainbow obverse deeper into the portrait that fades out at the top of the lettering with much more subtle blue and gold over the remainder. The reverse has that beautiful ice blue in the center to that delightful gold and then rainbow peripheries. I've messed around with both my scanner and camera, but can't just seem to get toned coins right ... As noted before, PCGS is missing the boat by not offering digital images of submissions for a fee ... Had best keep BNE away from this discussion. Soon, he will have a third set ... The BNE Collection (Toned)!

And gee, Carl, are you sure you want to go to all the work of re-entering your coins in the Basic Set? Seems like a lot of work. image
  • Carl - itsa beauty! But shame on you for sharing it with everyone on these boards!! Before we know it everybody is gonna want colored Jeffs image

  • Hi Carl,

Very nice nickel! You're right about it being difficult to properly capture the colors
    on these coins.
