Design of the Jefferson Nickel

There was some talk a few months ago about the Mint may change the design of the Jefferson Nickel. So my question is have you heard or know anything about the possible design change of the Jefferson Nickel?

Haven't heard anything...but there is always talk of design changes. It's been going on for the 40 years I've been paying attention. My very personal opinion is that it would be a tragedy to substitute a "politically correct" design...can you spell Susan B Anthony or Saca whatever?...for the guys who invented our country, i.e. Jefferson and Washington.

The whole design issue is very political. Ever read the Redbook description of the Carver-Washington commem...the part about "Money obtained from the sale of these commemoratives was to be used 'to oppose the spread of communism among Negroes in the interest of national defense."...what was that all about????

That said, I love all the Statehood quarters and I think the Mint is doind an awesome job with the modern commems. Back to Jefferson nickels...I hope that if they do something is as well thought out as some of the better modern commems.
