Whoah! I guess my stinking $25 snipe wasn't quite there.

This pup was at $12.50 with under 30 seconds to go. Closed at $104.55! By the time I pulled the trigger, I wasn't even in the ballpark.

    hey russ

i had a similar auction close like that and lo-and-behold pepperdoodles was the winner in mine!!!!! image it was for a raw 1958 jefferson proof with some awesome looking frost and i planned my last second snipe like a wartime general!! i clicked at $335 and got the screen saying my bid was too low. it closed around $650.

  • If the kennedy was a dcam it might be worth several thousands. Hey Russ, why didnt your bid show up?

Yep, that's why. A higher grade '65 SMS in cameo brings some nice money. Of course, Pepperdoodles will probably do up some nice photos and list it raw with the word "MOOSE!" and "PLATELIKE!" and "STILL WATER!" appearing several times.

Because I pulled the trigger at my usual three seconds, and by than the other two had run it way up above my max.

Probably because the bidding had outstripped his bid by the time it registered. "Problem with bid amount"

Russ: Don't forget "immaculant!" Like the "immaculant" conception.

  • Russ - ok i understand now. There was a Kennedy 65 dcam on ebay over the weekend that was over $3000.00 last time i saw it. I think the bin was $10,000.00. I bid 1050.00 on it early in the auction just to scare my wife.
  • Hey Russ, doesn't the envelope say 1975?

    presleyh,

That one closed at $5900 and didn't meet reserve. R&I has had it in inventory for quite a while, and I'm pretty sure the reserve was very close to the BIN of $10.5K. Of course, since the listing opened an 8th example in 67DCAM was made, so that may have an impact on pricing next time it's listed.

    Ogden,

Seller doesn't have the original envelope any more.

  • Pepperdoodles whacked me the other day so don't feel bad...on a 65 sms set with a similar kennedy.

The only bummer is the reverse could be flat and lifeless (common on 65SMS's). I guess it's worth the risk?

Pepperdoodles has sniped a few of my auctions. Pretty neat when you're the seller and are thinking you're going to take a big hit, and all of a sudden, there are the big bucks you were anticipating image
