value it as vg-minus. i'm not convinced the coin is authentic though. it does look "dug", but also looks somewhat like a cast copy. i'd want to see in person.
in my metal detecting days i never found a silver coin that came out of the ground that dark...
some of the silver coins i found had splotchy dark areas from the silver interracting with ground chemicals but this darkness did not cover the whole coin...
i never found anything this old but really,if i had,would expect to see some silver brightness on it on first seeing it after i pop it out of the ground...
i would say the coin has been colored,at the least,and is a cast counterfeit,at the worst...
the apparent corrosion (or is it dirt?) around "LIBERTY" bothers me...i never saw corrosion on any silver coin i found...the ground would have to really acidic to corrode a buried silver coin...
if it's genuine it's a great find...
