1969 Gibson PSA 9

Well, I paid more than I wanted but this is a real tough one in 9. Its 1 of 8 that I just think will be super tough to ever get in 9 from the set. The others are Yaz,Hunter,Jackson,Bunning,Brock,Aaron and Mays. Check out the POP's on these and look at the POP's on the same cards from the surrounding years. I know who has 1 of the other 2. He also had the second one and sold it for big dollars years ago. I've been trying to buy his for years to no avail.

  • Wow, that is some card! Congrats on the pick up. Someday I'll work on that 69 set.

    Bob,

    Definitely a nice pickup!

So, whats the deal? Are you in? out? Building the set off the registry? And are those your 69 White Letters in Superior?

The Superior catalog does identify the White Letters as having been Gaspipe's...
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    Frank,
I'll pick up cards if I think there cheap. The Gibson is a real rarity, as are the White's. I never owned the Gibby in 9, now I can say I did.

Nice pickup Bob. We're all still waiting for a Lou Brock 9 to be graded. I may even make a play on that one. There's gotta be one out there somewhere waiting to be graded.

Hey, I'll settle for a Yaz or a Hunter.
  • very nice addition indeed...thats an even tougher card than the reggie, which i consider one of the prizes of my rookie card collection! congrats!
  • Bob - I dont yet own the Gibson in any grade for my 69' set but a PSA 9 is certainly what dreams are made of. Take a look at those amazing 68' stats for Gibby! Great card of a great HOF'er and that one is truly one of the tough 69' stars in high grade!
To own it; if only for a moment.......sigh!

Begs another question and maybe even another thread; Did you ever get the urge to buy a truly unaffordable card to own it just for a brief time....fully intending to flip it after a couple of days/weeks of ownership enjoyment?

Cant say i've done this but there have been a few cards that have come by to make me think about it. I have always dreamed of owning a Shoeless Joe card....well maybe someday.

    Nice card Bob!....RayB69Topps
