Been trying to upgrade this variety for 10 years

The average grade of my Fugio collection is right at VF 35. My N. 1-L has been a crappy G6 for the last 10 years. It's a R-6 variety, but I have had my chances and always seem to have been the bridesmaid - tonight I finally pulled it off thanks to eBay. It's in a PCGS F 15, but from the pics I grade it a VF 20.link

    Congratulations,

Nice catch - those Fugio cents are fantastic coins. Your's seems to have a real nice surface from the photo, with VF detail.
I'm still looking for my "ideal" Fugio.
  • Currently there are 60 known varieties - 6 of which are unique. I'm stuck at 48, but I have been able to do about 3-4 upgrades per year.

    Very nice - congrats!
Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
  • I have always wanted one of these but for some reason have not yet stepped up to the plate. One of these days soon I hope to gain the knowledge that will allow me to get a nice one too. (At this point one decent one will be good enough for me). Any suggestions on an affordable "Type" to look for?

That really depends on what 'affordable' is - It can mean very different things to different people. Thanks to the Bank of New York hoard high grade (AU-UNC) examples are readily available for about 6 of the 60 known varieties. Expect to pay $1000-$2000 for AU to Unc examples of those varieties.
