I think it's POSSIBLE...Too early now to say, but if they truly had the 2 greatest players on earth getting even home court advantage would be a walk in the park! Looks like they may lose tonight, and drop to 6-12image But we will seeimage

    You guys keep trying to tell time with a sun dial....give the season a chance to develope and the players to get up to speed. The power house teams have learned how to lose and still be there in the end. The point to prove is can the fast start for some of the other teams be maintained, and how will they respond to a couple loses in a row?

    LMAO, it's official, Lakers lose again, updated record 6-12, up 10 at halftime and they blew it!! Wow, I will honestly pi$$ myself if they don't make the playoffs!! But Shaq will be his old self again shortly and the Lakers will be good then, Shaq is doing good now, best on the team really, but still has room to get back to his normal game, thats scary!! I hope his toe acts up because having the big man on your team makes it unfair for the rest of the league!

    actually you dont know me very well...i am like a basketball genious really...but i think lakers will make the playoffs, BUT i think it is possible for them to miss, face it, shaq could have another strecth where he misses games from his toe, in which they would win 1 out of every 5 games at most.....the season is 25% of the way over, and they are 6-12, it all depends how deep the west is this year....

    It's a joke, almost the whole NBA makes the playoffs.

    UofArizona makes another good point, maybe the Lakers could be more concerned if the NBA was more like the NFL, where you don't have 2 million games to correct a slow start and some decent squads actually miss the playoffs.

    It happens every year...the lakers limp into the playoffs and then watch all the
    greats teams in that confrence fold! CWeb, Garnett, Robinson, Nash...all fold
    and the Lakers will beat them!

    Undertaker, I honestly believe if the Big Man's toe acts up and he misses a stretch of 10-15 games that would put the Lakers season in jeopardy!! But really, the point about 8 of the 15/16 teams making it is BS, Shaq missing games is the only way Lakers miss but thats possible! So think what you like but I'm gonna pray every night that Shaq has to sit out for a few weeks so then you will see the mighty Lakers watching the playoffs from there homesimage Besides I never knew basketball was big in Belgium!! Is there even a Belgium player in the NBA? If there is I wouldnt know about it, well at least they put out Jean Claude Van Damm, he is the closest thing to a Belgium Basketball Player...Well your a fan though and an expertimage One of the many that says how T-Mac doesnt compare to Kobe!! Before the season most of the Kobe collectors were saying that Kobe was the best player on the Lakers and it's really his team!!! WTF?     bkb isn't big in Belgium.. well the NBA isn't.. I just love the game (I'm an *cough* expert *cough* myself image)
    I don't think there is a belgian player in the NBA.. although Andrew DeClercq (or André De Clerq) has some Belgian roots, and Ann Wauters (who plays for Cleveland in the WNBA) was the 1st overall pick 2 or 3 years ago, she's pretty good..

    btw, I'm not gonna start about the Lakers.. or 'T-Mac = MVP'.. it's no use..

    I'm sure come playoff time the Lakers will be right in the thick of it. They have too much experience on the team.If the big man has an extended length of missed time, I'm sure Kupchak will pull of some kind of trade to help the team at center.

    The whole premise of this post is flawed, because JoeBenson doesn't know which question he's asking, and we're discussing two different topics.

    Yes, the Lakers may possibly miss the playoffs, but by the same token, an A-bomb may POSSIBLY hit the Staples Center. If Shaq stays healthy, the Lakers will be fine (assuming that pesky A-bomb doesn't hit).

    Now, if you want to ask if the Lakers will make the playoffs if Shaq gets hurt again, then that is a seperate question. That's like posing the question "Do you think the Spurs will miss the playoffs," and after everyone says "no chance," replying, "well what if Duncan breaks his leg."

    shaq's toe isnt something that was healed, the problem he has will stick with him for the rest of his days, the surgery was so he didnt have to play in pain....i will give oy an example: grant hill....he has had surgeries but his problem is lifetime, not a surgery and then its ok...now do you understand king cobra? the idea that shaq will miss games is a very good possiblity in my view, and thats what i meant from the get go....is the grizzlies had shaq they would be playoff bound, he is the key to the lakers success

    zero chance lakers WONT make the playoffs. They will eventually start winning games when shaq gets his rythem and starts to feel comfortable playing. I would bet any amount of money Not that they will get a championship, but for they WILL make the playoffs.

    I bloody hate the Lakers but I know that they will probably go on a 20 game winning streak and make the playoffs with ease. They have Shaq which is good enough to get you in the playoffs alone...and then you add an allround threat like Kobe. Who cares about the other bums on the team, those guys will get you in there easily.

    injurys have played a huge part so far this year with the lakers..obviously shaq missing the first part of the year was big but Fox missed the first 6 games ( suspended ) , Devean George missed about 6 games, Samaki Walker is on the i.r and now Horry is out.. Also the biggest problem i see with the Lakers right now is there DEFENSE. it's been horrible of late
