Arrived at 9:30am parking was easy actually i got very lucky the lot was full. Went in and made one pass and noted one dealer case along the back wall. after my pass i went and sat and looked over a few
CH/Gem BU Morgans In the raw. I purchased from this nice Gentleman a very Choice Gem/Bu PL 1884 and a very choice Gem/BU 1882 Both to be added to my Grandson's Morgan collection. The 1884 displays very pleasing PL qualities
while the 1882 is just a choice gem with nothing real spectacular to note. The price was very reasonable for both coins and this Gentleman Gave my Grandson a 1945 Gem BU Mercury Dime that has 2 out of the 3 bands split.
I was very pleased with this dealer even if he didn't give that nice unexpected gift. Very friendly. I walked through the show one more time quickly stopping only to look at some old
$20.00 dollar bills and some other paper money that fasinated me and had to leave. The show seemed very Busy to me but then again it was the first show i had gone to in 15 years.
Sorry i did not get to meet any of the regulars on this board but i will have more time to spend at the next meet at Parsippany.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Hope you can spend more time in the near future (the next one is Dec. 15 and then Jan. 5. The January show is usually a bit light due to FUN, though.)
I thought the show was about as busy as it has been the past few months. It was hard to get down the aisles! (Actually, this month I spent about as much time talking to TomB as I did looking at coins!) There were a few empty spaces - I presume the dealers were still at White Plains.
I didn't see much that caught my eye (except for the coins that TomB was doing show-and-tell with, of course), but Don Hosier had four no-motto eagles: 1841 in NGC-50, 1842 in NGC-55, 1851-O in NGC-50 and 1851-O in NGC-53. I've decided that I'm in "big" trouble - I used to like XF-40 no motto eagles, then I got used to them and decided that XF-45 coins were nicer, then I got used to them and decided that AU-50 coins were much nicer. Now I'm starting to like AU-53s and AU-55s! As you know, there's a big price jump there (and it's not a step I'm willing to afford, right now!) Don's coins had very original surfaces (nice "crust"), but I thought they were a little "baggy" and didn't have much luster. Except for the 1842 in 55 - that was a nice coin (and at a nice price), but too much for my budget today! It was, however, a very nice experience to compare four no-motto eagles side-by-side. One I don't get to have all that often, either.
The other thing I noticed was a lot of early PCGS slabs in dealer's inventories. (I saw a very flashy 1935-S San Diego commem in an early PCGS MS-65 slab, as well as an MS-62 1881-S Morgan. Let me say that an MS-62 1881-S Morgan is not a particularly impressive coin!) At least five or more dealers had early PCGS slabs in their cases. Obviously there must be some fresh material (from older collections) coming onto the market.
Edited to add: Don Hosier also had an 1881-CC Morgan in PCGS-66! Wow, talk about heavy frosting on Liberty! I didn't look at it closely, but it sure looked nice from a distance!

Was this the dealer that was near the front door? I thought i saw a fellow sitting looking at a CC Morgan that looked very Brilliant in that area but there was a crowd and i couldn't get close enough for a good look.

Don Hosier was, indeed, near the door.
If you turned left just as you came in, he was perhaps two or three dealers in from the door. (with his back to the same wall as the door.)
Also, Carl Bombara always has nice currency. (Turn right as you come in, he's the last dealer with his back to the same wall as the door.) I've never bought anything from him, but I always look at his very nice (and large) inventory and he was nice to me the one time I asked for a valuation on some reasonably ordinary small-size notes.
