So what happened in 1998 with $50 Platinum Eagles?

I was looking at the Registry sets for these and it has 270 PR70DCAM's listed in 1998. This is MORE and any other date for PR69DCAM'S? Is this a glitch in the reports?

    It was a little before my time but I think the majority of them were from one bulk submission. I haven't seen the population change since I picked up mine last year. Someone here must know the story though?

    I saw that too. As a remember, there was a phenomenon like that among the MS plats as well (1998 $25 plat MS have 32 MS70s; the TOTAL for ALL THE OTHER years/denominations of the plats is only 6!). I made a post here about that one, and nobody seemed to know.

    One or a couple bulk submissions makes sense, though. (Tells you what else is out there!)

    Word from a reliable source says it was a bulk submission for some type of PR deal.

    I have one of them, and there isn't a mark on it. Looking at this coin in sunlight is absolutely phenomenal.
