Classic Luster

Is it normal for first year a IHC in VF to still have red color on it, I'm not talking about a bright red coin but having some red left around letters? What is the lowest grade an IHC can be while still showing red?

It really depends- I have an EF that has some nice shine to it, but I also have some examples of corroded copper that are red because of the corrosion- they could also be red because of (an old) cleaning.

I'd say even a Fine-12 could have hints of luster at times, but more likely, luster will be on PQ VF, EF, and up.

Also remember that a coin can be glossy and not have a shine because of luster- just look at any nice, smooth copper.
