Two Receding Bald Guys from Salem, OR Coin Show.

Went Merc hunting at the yearly Salem, OR Coin Show but as usual found none of the little ladies. Show was crowded by 11 AM with what appeared to be some brisk business at some of the tables. A couple of dealers did comment that replacing thier inventory was getting very hard to do. Many more people this year it seemed to me. Collecting appears to be Alive and Well here in Oregon.

Anyway here are the two coins I did buy. Opps make that three, a nice Rim Toned 46D BTW in a PCI Slab was bought also.

Decent Morning all in all.

I left the Prettiest one at the show. It was a 52P with Knockout Tone but he wanted more money for it than this Merc Collector was willing to pay for a Bald Guy. Might get a call from him tonight if he finds more of these tonight at home. Just may have to drive back down tomorrow.

Hey whats a 52P in 66 worth ? I have no clue. image

I picked on up for $365 with some nice toning, the coin was clean and acceptable for the grade, but the one I bought was no jaw dropper to say the least.....But I still very happy with my bald guy, oh how I love ol baldielocks!

  • Nice pickup on the bald guys Ken - just wished you hadn't started calling them that - it's bad enough that my kids tease my about my receeding hairline, now they'll start talking about how I collect bald guys too! LOL - Great Frankies!

    Frank,

Does this mean that Ikes are in your future?

Ike is the real bald guy. Franklin is just the receding guy.
  • Ah great - coinage evolution in front of our own eyes - Darwin would be proud - as would the makers of Rogaine! image

OK its changed to the Receding Bald Guy. Ike really is the True Bald Guy. image
  • BTW Fairlaneman,

Those are some really nice Receders.
There is some fantastic color on both of them.
  • I concur with Mike - that 56 is a really sweet coin - beatiful mint set toning caught just before it got too weird. Looks like an excellent strike too!

    Mark:

Yes they came from Keith. He gets some of my money each year at this show. I basically go to this one just to see Keith, Jim Hanna and to BS with Steve Jones. There is another guy I also like to see but forget his name.

I had my Brattain International black jacket on. Was I there when you were ? If so next time just come up and Rap me along side of the head and say hello !! Would like to meet some of the folks here on the forumns.
