Opinions Please

Linky

I have asked the seller if he will allow me to bid on this auction since I live in Europe. I have not had a reply yet but would love to have comments on your opinion of this coin.

My thanks in advance,

Hi Wayne, it's really hard to tell if it has any luster from the picture? Maybe ask the seller if he can send you some better pictures. I think the seller is a forumn member? mike

  • "PLEASE NOTE WE ONLY SHIP TO THE U.S. AND CANADA." But it doesn't hurt to ask. Very nice coin.
  • darktone/bohica268,

DT... I don't have a problem with the price. I am willing to BIN it now (not offered as BIN). I just wanted to know the genearl opinion of the coin.

Bohica..I contacted asking if he would ship to me.

    Thanks for the replies.

Sorry I forgot to say. I have a lot of contact with several members on the (darksude) named Mike and Michael. I am not an active member on the USA coin forum so I really may not have any contact with him. Thanks for the heads-up!!

I like the coin, although I wonder if the toning might be hiding a light bit of wear. The reverse on the ship looks a bit like a weak spot. And the luster is hard to guage, but I'm sure the photography wasn't emphasizing it. They've got a 7 day return privilege, so if you like the piece it may be worth it.
  • nwcs,

Thanks for the reply. I have to get an answer back from the seller first to see if I can even bid on it!!

  • Thanks to all for the comments and advice.

I just recieved a mail from the seller saying he would, as a special consideration, to me in Norway. The cost..........$16.00.

I thanked him but declined the offer.

Wayne- from experience I know it will cost about $12 to send a bubble mailer to Europe that is sent registered with a return card. So if he plans on packaging it in a larger box he might not be too far off the mark. Maybe on a low cost coin it would be better to send it with regular International mail and not registered but if he wants a return card he must send it registered. mike

I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

Always looking for nice type coins

  • Thanks Mike,

I have recieved several single coins shipped from America. Usually in the typical bubble evelope (sp). The postege on the package is normaly about $1.60-2.00.

I did not say to the seller that I would take all shipping risks, my fault, I should have. I got a new mail from him, a very nice reply. He is concerned that Global UPS mail only reaches major Europen araes and not remote locations.

A fair comment in my thinking. I have received single and up to 17 pounds of coins shippied that way with no problem.........

But heck.... how couls he know that!!

I will have to let this one pass. I am just trying to give myself an early Christmas present of a coin with a ship on it (my current crazy-ness).

Thank you for your insite and all on here for a fella that does not visit this forum near enough.

newbie, with my ususal disclaimer regarding giving opinions based solely on images - the color does not look natural to me. I would not risk the time, $ and potential aggravation involved. Nothing against the seller, whom I don't know.
