Cointoast's new toned coin...a followup

Thanks for the reply's on the coin Picture

I will say one thing though....regardless if it's real or AT the dealer I bought this from is a STAND UP GUY.

He has offered me a full refund on the coin right now and if I choose to submit it and it comes back AT he has made me an offer to return it that I cannot complain about or go wrong with.

He even went so far as to tell me what he paid for the coin..

Either way...I would'nt hesitate to do biz with him again......

  • Toasty,

Glad you are happy with the deal and your after purchase options. That is all that counts!

  • Jeff is a class act and will be honest about what his opinion of the coin is. I recommend him to anyone, specifically for 1936-1970 proof coinage, Tomaska might be the most recognized, but Jeff has some awesome stuff too.

That's very decent. Sounds like a win/win situation. I wish everybody I bought from offered the same deal.
  • Buying raw coins is for people who know what they're doing. My advice to you is stick with certified coins as close to bluesheet as you can get. As for sending that coin in, ACG would probably holder it. NGC and PCGS certainly won't need more than about one second to body bag that coin. It is clearly artificially toned and an extremely unattractive one, in my opinion.

Sure, I think it's an unattractive coin but who cares what I think? I didn't buy it so it isn't my business. People should buy what THEY like not what someone else likes. Hell, I think all Franklin halves are atrocious but that does keep people from collecting them...good for them!

    LOL!

Well, Lucy, think of it this way. In no way shape or form will you be getting ANY competition from me for ANY Franklin halves. Good for me. Good for you. image

  • I agree with JOM about people buying what they like. I been buying antiquarian books about reptiles for the past twenty five and even though they've gone up dramatically in value in that time, it doesn't mean that I should listen to my wife who says "ADRIAN....YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND.....NO MORE SNAKE BOOKS....OR SVEN IS MOVING IN......!!!!!"

But some people post picutures of coins asking for opinions. When someone posts a picture of a coin and asks for an opinion, we should be kind enough to give it to them along with other unsolicted advice of a hurtful and critical nature especially when the person asking the advice is like a raging bull, goring and stomping every human in the room, like Cointoast.

    Just my opinion.

    Anaconda,

Is that sig line "(kettle)" as in "calling the pot ..."? image Just curious. I couldn't think of any other "kettle".

  • Yeah, probably. I've been known to gore and stomp, although, I (rightly or wrongly) believe that I have gored and stomped only those in need of it.

I agree with that, however, I don't think it is worth the submission- if that fee won't get refunded, then why bother submitting it? It will get bodybagged, so I just don't see the use in sending it in...

  • drsvenghali - good eye! You would be very lucky....I may have to slow down on my book buying!

I did, though, get another book case to match my first...so...still have a little extra shelf space!
