    Mac,
I thought the 16 was the only one without the stars?.Al
  • Your classifications are fine. I love the SLQ's Too bad they are so expensive. You may have seen my other post about the Full head ones. I recently bought and returned a 1928-S MS65 FH It was only a 90% FH with no ear hole.

Do you have Cline's book on the SLQ's? There are some neat early designs. There is one that has big dolphins on the obverse.

Al My new VF 1917 type1 has No stars under the eagle but I think the 17 type 2 does.

I haven't seen Cline's SLQs I never hear of the design with dolphins but as a type collector you have just spark something in me. Do you have the book? fill me in on the year of this design.

    You got it right.

I would imagine most of the pre-1925 coins exist as no-date pieces, though the later ones lost their dates, too. There are diagnostics to tell a 1916 from a 1917 type 1, even if the date is gone. I forget what they are, though.

    That's beauty and the beastimage.
LM, I think the skirt line on the bottom is shorter, and also think there is a planchet flaw next to her R knee. Not sure about the flaw. And what do I know?I forgot there was a type two 16image.Al
  • MacCoin,

I have Cline's 2nd edition and I borrowed the 3rd edition from my coin club. Cline even signed it and gave it to the club at the last FUN show.

Now I see the one with dolphins was MacNeil 1st design done in plaster. It never was made into a coin. There is also a 1917 matte proof in the book and a 1916 pattern.
