1999 Proof Sets - 10 COINS?? ARE FAKES DON'T BUY THEM!

There are clad proof sets which contain the SBA. I've never heard of this until recently. All the sets that I have from that year are 9 coin sets without a dollar. Any info on these? How many are there and what are they worth?

There's an article in the Nov. 18th issue of CoinWorld that identifies those sets as fakes.

The Coinworld article said that people were using year 2000 sets and replacing the SACs with SBAs.

Reported to e-bay. Does anyone know what category to use for out & out fraud? I never see one, and need to pick the closest offense I can. For this, I chose fee avaoidance since S/H/I was $9.35. I included the fact the auction is fraudulent.

I also e-mailed the seller to recommend they cancel all bids and end the auction. The seller deals extensively in coins--little chance they don't know how this unusual set came to be.

I also e-mailed the seller, told him exactly how the sets were fabricated, and gave him the reference to the Coin World article. Now we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the info on the faked proof sets. I am glad I opened this thread! You guys and Gals are certainly up on the hobby!!!!! To report something on ebay that you feel is fraud; go to "Services", scroll down to "Safe Harbor" under SH click on "Fraud Protection" then cleck on "Trust & Safety Webform" and report the offending auction number. There maybe a better way to report something on ebay but this is the only way I have found to do it!!! I have been reporting fake or copy paper money this way. I think ebay wants to make it hard to report something!!!

I built myself one of these after I got the 2000 Proof set (to get the holder). It is still in my proof set collection. Not for sale though.
