What do you believe are the advantages and/or disadvantages of having eBay auctions ending on a Holiday? Are their collectors brousing for coins or is a Holiday, like today, a time when traffic slows down and many deals are passed over?

I have more time to browse on holidays than on most other days so I like auctions closing on holidays. Of course for those with sniping programs it doesn't really matter.

Today's a Holiday, people are in a good mood and want to play and e-bay is playing for alot of people. I think it's a good day to end an auction. Plus starting today people are getting in that spending spirit.

I think the holidays is a great time to pick up some bargains, as the number of collectors browsing has got to be lower than normal. Last night I picked up a very nice graded 1901-S graded Morgan for half the greysheet price. I thought I was going to miss the deadline because I had to help my wife with something with ten minutes to go, so I broke my rule of not bidding with more than a minute left and bid a maximum of $61.00 on a $160.00 coin. I came back to find the price run up to $71.00 with 90 seconds left. I sniped it for $79.00, but I probably could have just as easily gotten at the end for $61.00.

That timing stuff - it kills me sometimes!

Last night I picked up a very nice graded 1901-S graded Morgan for half the greysheet price.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch. You never mentioned PCGS/NGC so I'm guessing it's raw.

In just 5 minutes we have goose and Frank hunting e-bay for bargains. I still say I think its a good day to have a coin close. There are always deals popping up but it looks to me we are going to have a helluva lot of people today looking for them.

Frank. It was Segs and at $160 I'm guessing AU. I hope you ripped it. I am a firm believer if it seems too good it probably is. If it's a glorified XF your in at twice bid (my sheets a bit old so cut me a little slack on the price quotes). I'll keep my fingers crossed.

SEGS - AU is right. Whether or not SEGS glorified it remains to be seen, as I have no experience with SEGS. Since I got it at the right price if the grade is justified, I might just turn it around and use the profit for an MS63 Liberty Nickel I have had my eye on.

Other 01-S's will come along.

When does Braddick start recycling questions??? It is a con to end on a holiday if you are a seller. too many people away from home and only avid buyers asking mom or sis to go an line after exusing onesself from the dinner table at mom or sis' house.
