Lacquered 32-D, can the surfaces be saved?

It looks to me that this 32-D has been lacquered at one time, and it has deteriorated. Is there a chance the surfaces could be intact? I am not interested in this coin, but rather whether any of you have tried to recover one in this condition. Any thoughts?

I think it could be saved.Acetone should remove the lacquer.I'm not sure what it would look like though.

  • Hell, its been saved. You can store that puppy anywhere, it's well protected.
  • For decades, laquer has been a proven way to protect a coin's surfaces. Many of the King Farouk coins were at one time laquered to protect them from the harsh environment. As mention, a lengthy dip in acetone and a LIGHT swab of Q-tip will remove the laquer.
