Quality Control

David,
There are lots of discussions about changing standards in grading.
Do you have a quality control process that allows you to plot changes over time. This is a standard practice in laboratories and allows objective assessment of drift. If so, can you share the process you utilize?

PCGS does have a grading set. It consists of permanent examples of our grading standards for the most important series. A couple of years ago we published our grading standards in a lengthy book published by Random House. While grading standards have drifted a little over the past 17 years, the situation is far less severe than what we had before PCGS...say the 1972 to 1985 time period when standards were all over the board and constantly changing.
