Anyone ever see a double major error?

In other words, take for example the 1955 ddo 1c, a major error- anyone ever seen one that is off center, double struck, etc?

Major error here is not a 2000 cent double struck and off center... I mean a famous error with another error added on top of it...

Anyone?

There is a pretty famous ED that all the specialists know: the ``Star Gazer'' specimen. It is a low-grade 1799 8x5 variety that is doubly-struck and flipped over. (The flip-over occurred between the two strikings.)

I was the underbidder on it a few years ago, losing it to the late John J. Haugh. The Goldberg's auctioned off his estate early this year, and I FORGOT TO BID ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(The guy had gotten me passionately interested in ED varieties, and I want this coin for the coin's sake as well as a memento of the gentleman who made a numismatic difference in my life.)

I have never seen a major error in person. I would like to, someday though. I've seen die fills and off-centers, but none of the famous ones. The most valuable error I have is a variety of morgan dollar. It's an 8/7 1880S Morgan. I'm going to cross it to PCGS eventually to put into my registry set. It's in an unattributed NGC holder right now.

The only major error I've ever seen is the 3-legger... MS66 and 65... only $35k for the pair... I held them image
