Roosevelt Dime error 1964-D

I came accross a nice 1964-d dime which the 1964 was missing the 4, It is like
the STATE in the DEL quarters you can barely see it. plus it is a little off center
because of the barely seen 4 is right on the rim. Are there many of these
around ????

any worth??

I will post a pic later in the day

I'll be interested to see the pictures. Of course a missing 4 from the date by itself would be no big deal....filled dies are somewhat common and lead to missing/occluded letters and numbers upon occasion. If there is some other phenomenon going on other than a filled die, perhaps your photos will give us some leads.

  • Sounds like an off center strike which would be cool - maybe Russ or some of the error guys can shed some light on this.

What about the reverse? Is it equally shifted?
  • no the reverse is fine... I have the coin here at work and going to take some digital pics here shortly
