Warren Sapp is an idiot.

Anyone see that bs after the game with Warren running his gums to GB coach Mike sherman.Warren told him"if you are so tough, put a jersey on" and repeated himself about 10 times.Way to challenge a 60 yr old Warren!

get the facts stright bud, sapp went to shake his hands and the guy told him off for a hit
on one of his guys. It is a good thing Sherman shut up after he said that or Sapp
would of flattened him like he did his team! Winners never look bad, only losers!

    Kevin

  • A little ridiculous Sapp going off the deep end like that-i didn't know about the handshake but still, Sapp has a history of running his big mouth. You are a TB fan-no point in arguing with you about it.Let him talk his crap to Gilbert Brown instead of an old man.He has a fine coming.Hope it was worth it.

  • Sherman is the idiot for starting with any player. He is lucky he didn't get his A$$ whipped for it.

As for the hit it was a legal hit,he hit him from the side not in the back for the league rules.

But it was a cheap shot the guy wasn't even tring to get involved in the play but that's football at times

that is what is called a good block! The play was going the other way and Sapp
was taking his man out. I didn't like to see the guy going off on a stretcher either, but
that hit was legal and happens all the time. Because it was Sapp and everyone is
now chaffed that the Bucs are now the best team in the NFL, they are going to
    be talking talk about this!

You all just don't want to talk about the Bucs and how awesome they are......LOL

Sapp can rap all he wants but when he takes pride in injuring another player that's when he loses ALL respect even form other players.
By the way, just so you know,Sherman wasn't afraid of fat mouth. In his day he was a very good player who gave & took shots with the best of them.He never gloated over injuring another man like fat mouth did yesterday.Sapp is a loser & the team will fold as usual

  • I was going to stay out of this discussion until I just saw the replay again. I was torn because at first I thought it was a legal, but clearly dirty, hit. However, in watching it a couple more times, I saw that Sapp flung himself at Clifton, leading with his helmet, not using his arms at all to hit him. Like he said, he was a head seeking missile. If he would have just nailed him I wouldnt have been too angry, even if it was dirty. But leading with the head like that, not even attempting to use your body to hit the guy, that was ridiculous. I hope he gets fined. I had a lot of respect for Sapp before that hit. I love the players that mouth off to the media, but that hit was ridiculous and he should be fined big time. He should be fined for the hit, not for any of his comments

  • Guys, cry me a river...this is the NFL as it has always been. Haven't you ever heard defensive players talk about the interception block drill, where the goal is during an interception return is to "block" the QB as many times as possible (i.e. knock the heck out of him)? It's common knowledge that this kind of "dirty" hitting goes on all thetime, but Sapp's hit was clean, no foul was called, and frankly he could have done much worse....did you see the return later, when he was running in front of the corner and had a clear shot to just wipe out Favre, and instead blocked the O'lineman who was up ahead? In that case, Favre made the touchdown-saving tackle, and Sapp could have easily taken a completely legal shot at Favre but chose not to. Sapp has never been known as a dirty player, so know just because one COACH decides to call him a "chickensh!t" for a legal hit and he gets mad, we want to brand him as an idiot?

dodgerguy99, you've clearly never played organized sports. If a player wants to cheap shot someone, he can fear retribution from any player at any time. However, it is not the coach's business to start smack talking players, and I agree with what Sapp said: "If I didn't have kids and a conscience, I would have whooped his ____ right there ont he 30-yard line.
  • Super, i suggest you watch that again. As I said, I thought it was a legal hit at first, but if you watch it you see that Sapp just flew himself leading with his helmet at Clifton. He didn't just go up and nail him, he led with his helmet. Hard hitting is definately a part of football, but that hit wasn't. That was just Sapp searching out a player to hurt, leading with the helmet with the intent to injure. All those other hits, like the one you were talking about where on a return they will nail a QB, are ones where they just go up and nail them with their body, more than likely the shoulder. But that play wasn't like those others. Just watch it again

  • None of you guys seem to get it - Sapp wasn't saying "put on a jersey,as in let's play football/fight." He's saying that someone who doesn't play the game and put his butt on the line out there has no room to talk. It'd be the same thing if you were at a restaurant in Tampa, and you saw Sapp eating, and went over to him and said, "That was a real chickensh!t play on Sunday, you suck." He would have every right to say "put on a jersey" as in "walk a mile in my shoes before you go judging what I do and calling me names."
  • zimmy, I've watched the play 5 times time now (thank God for the endless morning Sportcenters image) and I see a shoulder-led hit. Doesn't look dirty to me, seen worse 1,000 times this year go uncalled and unfined.

Bobstar, I agree that gloating over an injury is reprehensible, but for all the replays I have seen, I have yet to see Sapp doing that, particularly over the fallen player. Sapp has zero history of being a dirty player, is it so unreasonable to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and say he didn't know the guy was hurt and was celebrating the interception? If it were a guy like Bill Romanowski, I can understand assuming the worst, but not for Sapp. Sapp runs his mouth, and sometimes his game doesn't back it up, but I've never heard of him being anything but a clean player that is at least respected by his peers.

Finally, if the hit was so dirty, why is Sherman the only one complaining? I haven't seen the Green Bay players rushing to defend their coach or their player, why not? Even Sherman has already said he "may have overreacted."

    << <i>Warren Sapp is an idiot >>

    just like you, eh?
  • I wish Sapp didn't have kids or a conscience like he says he does. Then all of his so called "fans" could have seen how rediculous his fat a-- would look as he's beating up a 60 year old man. OOHH, big tough guy, he can threaten a 60 year old man. What's he gonna do for an encore next week, rough up a cheerleader or punch out the other teams mascot? He's lucky he has football. Without it he would probably be one of them goons for a two bit loan shark. I could just imagine.

loan shark: Hey Warren, I need you to go break Guido's right leg.

Warren: Which one is the right leg?

loan shark: Never mind that Warren, just break them both.

    Warren: DUH, O.K. Boss!

  • It's already been reported that Sapp was standing over the player gloating after he decked him;might not have been caught on tape but more than just Sherman saw it.Have even heard a couple of his own team mates saw him gloating.A friend of mine that lives near
Tampa said he heard that on a local sports talk radio program.
The fact of the matter is Sapp has lost respect of alot of players for

  • bottom line:

Sapp made a completly legal hit. There was no flag on the play. Mike Sherman stuck his nose where it didn't belong, and was lucky that Sapp didnt kick his ass.
  • Thank you Brett. Anyone who has played organized football knows players watch players backs, and coachs DO NOT stick there noses in it. Whether we think Sapp is a jerk, Sherman started the altercation, and has since backed off. No Green Bay players have rushed to defend Sherman or condemn Sapp, the league has announced Sapp will not be fined, so what is you guys' problem with him?

yeah good point above, hockey is for men and those hits are real hits. and even though I
have never strapped on skates, I bet that hitting the cold hard ice feels much worse than
grass!! If you fairies think that that was a rough hit, I wouldn't watch hockey!

The bottom line is, the Bucs destoryed the Puckers and no one here is happy about that!
Your man Brett Favre looked like crap and Ahman Green was a no show. The Bucs
D wasted you like we wasted Cincy and the Brownies. Sapp isn't the real discussion
here, it is the Bucs and their 9-2 record!

Who here knows that Sapp was really gloating about that hit? Were you all there??
Heck the Bucs just picked off the ball and ran it back inside the 20...you don't think
guys on the D were happy about that?? Do you honestly think there is a player in
the NFL that would gloat after almost paralyzing a guy?

You all don't like Sapp because he is good AND he lets people know it. There
are far less players like Torry Holt and Fred Smoot who run off just as much.
Sapp is a force and you all know it. The guy has been double teamed all year
long and he is still on the top of the sack list. Where is Strahan??? No where
to be seen....(I guess they haven't played Green Bay yet huh?)

Sapp and the Bucs rule now, and you all must learn to live with that! Bow down and move on!

Bob....I was refering to lilsun's hockey comment not yours! I think you
need to chill out before you blow an artery. Again I ask you.....Are you
100% sure that Sapp was gloating over the hit or the interception?

If you arn't 100% sure then your mouth is just as big as Sapp's. The only difference
is that Sapp backs it up every week. Can you back your mouth up with
some facts or are you just bent because the Bucs just flattened your Puckers?

    LMK
    Kevin
  • Sapps hit on Clifton was unnecessary. Clifton was atleast 30 yards away from the play when Sapp nailed him. Sspp led with his helmet and a little bit of shoulder. It was a legal hit, yes, but also a dirty hit. Sapp should have atleast a little sympathy
I have heard everywhere that Sapp was gloating and prancing around after the play. I use to have some respect for the guy, but now I have none.
I also hated when Sapp and Favre would chat and laugh after Favre's interception. Favre haas been playing like a frickin pansie the last two weeks.
Sherman had every right to go up to Sapp and argue. The players might not have cause they just wanted to go rest in the locker room or something. Sherman has always stuck up for his players. And after their little arguement did you see Sapp shove the two trainers??? Now that was unnecessary.
  • Bottom line is Sapp did that with an intent to injure the guy. He could have just as easily just nailed the guy in the side with his body and blocked him, but being a punk, he decided to launch himself with only his helmet sticking out. No shoulder, no arms, nothing. Just launched himself like a missile at Clifton. If you really think he did this just to block Clifton you are so delusional. Doesn't matter who he hit or the extent of the damage, it was clearly a dirty play. Problem here is the NFL all year has been fining for completely legal hits that when a illegal hit finally happened people want to say the NFL should stop fining people. If the NFL hadn't been doing what they have been doing all year I bet most people here would be singing a different tune.

Funny how you CAN NOT convey a point without name calling (nimrod and fat mouth for example). You get mad when a hit is unneccessary and legal, but don't when McSorely smacks someone in the head with a stick, away from the play, which (last time I checked) is illegal. I'm sure if he knew the hit injured the other player that Sapp would not have been gloating, as it's been mentioned he could have been gloating about ANOTHER Green Bay turnover. Let me know if you can reply without name calling.

    Thanks

    wen't up to Sherman

    Sapp: Hey, good game.

    Sherman: (sumthin)

    Sapp: What? Shut up.

    Sherman: No, f**k you.

    dadada

    thats that
  • Sherman: (sumthin)

What Sherman said was clear: "That was chickensh!t..."

Now, again, players have every right to gripe. Maybe if a player says that, a little pushing and shoving goes on, no big deal. But a coach? Shouldn't happen. It's an unwritten rule. It's like in the NBA, a coach can gripe about a call all he wants, but if an assistant starts mouthing off, no way.
Plus, I haven't seen anyone respond to the fact that Sherman has already admitted to overreacting, and none of his players are defending him, so how can you keep justifying what Sherman did?
  • Actually... the McSorley "stick" incident was blown way out of proportion. Brashear was knocked out when his helmet slid up and he banged his head against the ice.
Anyways... the Sapp hit was legal... and if he tries to hurt the guy... as long as it is a legal hit... then it doesnt matter.
  • Sherman said that cause he is a pansy. Actually most coaches do that. They want to stop any kind of controversy so they just apologize. Absolutely no guts whatsoever. And the Packers have been lacking any kind of heart the last couple of games. They should have taken out Sapp's knees or at least done something to him, but of course they are cowards, which is what Sherman has taught them.

  • The sad thing is, none of this would be an issue if Sherman hadn't opened his mouth. We have no proof that Sapp was celebrating the injury and not the interception, and he's never been known as a dirty player.
