Is this a proper attribution for a M/M. LOL

So called D/S

Segs also has a bunch of 1921 Morgans out there with "So Called Zerbie Dies". Guess they are just not sure!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I've seen those "So called" slabs - don't like that attribution one bit - makes it sound like the coin isn't genuine - wonder what brain surgeon came up with this one?

Yep, they do seem to make their share of mistakes. I have a '79 JFK that's designated Type 1, and says right on the holder "Clear S". It's too bad, because I really like their slabs, even better than PCGS.

  • The "so called Zerbie dies" ARE NOT the Zerbe proofs... Two diffrent animals.
Knock SEGS grading all you want, but when you say they cant attribute, take a deep look at that near and dear service to you all, PCGS, whose attribution service is a JOKE! 1837 Large date seated dimes in small date holders?? Ive seen this NUMEROUS times. I can go on and on about how much PCGS sucks in this department....

  • Forgot to mention...

Name ONE service besides SEGS that will list various attributions, such as WB, Greer, Ahwash, etc etc etc....

  • On these varieties like this, using the designation "So-Called" is proper.
This may be one mint mark over a different mint mark or it may be a die break, or a repunched mint mark. Until someone can prove what it is, it goes by the historical variety name, hence the " So-Called".

Probably the slab should read "possible D/S" instead of "so called D/S". I guess for the collectors of only PCGS and NGC slabs these SEGS coins are about as welcome as a bad case of herpes. I do alot of attributions with SEGS and find that they for the most part are very accurate. As a matter of my personal opinion, they are the best for attributions right now. I don't always agree with the grades, but this isn't a specific problem with SEGS. I have disagreed with every service ,one time or another.
