WOW - what a Waste if it is a true 1901-S. Excellent color, great XF detail, with a big fat hole in the top. I wonder if it is an 1901-O but the hole obscures the mintmark making it hard to tell the difference.
I am going to watch it to see what the final price is. I would love to own that one, if it were a true 01-S even with a hole.
Lately it seems that dealers with many years experience are taking a beating. First, a dealer with 30 years experience can't tell a 1951 Proof set from a mint state set, and now a dealer with 40 years experience recommends this great piece for our sets. The years of experience are speaking to us.
This is what happens when a guy spends too much time and money on his coins and not enough on his lady The mrs. got out the old black and decker with a 3/16 high-speed-steel drill bit and let him know she wasn't happy
We've all seen a number of valuable coins like this with holes usually located near the top of the obverse.. Could it be that they've been liberated from pieces of jewelry, necklaces, bracelets etc. How else can they be explained? Twowood
i think that's probably it. the ones i run across seem to be more worn at the bottom of the date on the reverse, obviously from years of "rubbing" against a sweaty cleavage!!!!!! i wonder how a nice, sweet old seated quarter would look after about 10 years of rubbing between Shania's..........whoa, doggie!!! i better not go there.............
I'm guessing 100 yrs ago, some guy made a necklace for his lady - alot bigger and prettier than a gold dollar (cheaper too), and she wore it around her neck for years.
Does anyone know when diamond rings became popular (or how long has the DeBoer cartel been operating)?
I would have concern spending so much on a holey coin, even if completed my set, especially when it could be a 'O'.

I don't have a Barber quarter on the Holey Coin Vest, yet. That would be one way to "do it in style"!
