Intercept shield albums and Littleton Corrosion Protection

I have been looking at assembling a set of BU modern coins raw and would like to put them in albums. Looking at Ebay, I see many older sets of coins in whitman and dansco albums that have toned. I would like to keep the set as fresh looking as possible.

I have seen the intecept shield albums, which seem to fit the bill at first look. However, on closer inspection, they don't seem to offer the correct number of holes for a complete set, or have the ability to add additional pages. Does anyone have input on these observations. What is the use of buying a roosevelt album that only goes through 2002 and does not offer space for the 2002 S silver proof?

I have also seen the Littleton Corrosion Protection System Pages that are inserted into other albums, such as Dansco, Littleton and Whitman. The technology is supposed to be the same Lucent technology as that used by Intercept Shield. Has anybody used these and how well do they fit in the other albums. I gather that Dansco makes a superior album based on spaces for coin collectors and offer future expansion.

Any experienced input is greatly appreciated. I would prefer to spend money on coins than on buying a bunch of different albums to see what works best.

I've got a washington quarter set in the intercept shield albums (statehood quarter album was "complete", minus the leaky minuteman variety, JK). same beef with the others tho, they're obsolete as soon as you buy them. sure would be nice to keep using my whitman deluxe albums, easy to add pages to and they're shorter than dansco (take up less room in my small safe). guess you have to transfer the pages into a new binder, otherwise don't see how slipcase could work for both whitman and dansco. would rather just add some of those black anti-corrosion pages into my existing albums. maybe whitman will come out with an intercept slipcase of their own, or something.
  • Crito,

One can buy just the pages and not the slip cover from here. Not getting the slip cover cuts the cost in half. I would think that in a closed environment, such as a safe, they would work pretty well. I might just make my own slip covers for the larger albums. Thanks for your opinion.

cool beans, $5 for two pages ain't cheap, but think I'll get a few, at least for the albums I have proofs in. thanks for link.
  • I thought about getting those corrosion pages for my Dansco albums, but I'm thinking those pages only work in neutralizing "threats" in the air. The album toning you get from Dansco, Whitman, and the like comes from the sulphur, et. al. in the paper of the album in contact with the coin...n'est ce pas ???
